If you find value in what I’m doing, and have the means to support monetarily, you may do so on Ko-Fi. This is a labor of love, but it does take a lot of time to find music, arrange it, create song sheets and record videos. Thank you as always for your support.

“Under the Boardwalk” for the Baritone Ukulele

I finally distributed instruments to my students! What I’ve learned is, there are SO many great video tutorials out there for the GCEA ukulele. But not really the baritone. There are some introductory lessons, but nearly nothing about how to play easy songs. My guess is that people are assuming players are coming from a GCEA background. However, my students are not. (I didn’t, either.)

So I will be doing everything I can to expand the selection of EASY songs for the baritone uke, particularly songs in G. (Also: It’s really hard to search for songs by key.) With that said, I present to you, “Under the Boardwalk” by The Drifters.

“In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” in C for Ukulele

In this post we have a video and chord chart for “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel. This version is in the key of C, as opposed to its original key of G. I recommend trying both keys to see which one fits your voice the best! Even though I can sing in a low range, I felt like I could project a bit better in this higher key.

“In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” in G for Ukulele

Emo millennials rejoice! Our anthem is here! We can now fully feel our sadness toward the state of the world today by channeling it through “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel.

In this post I have a play-along video plus chord charts for both GCEA and DGBE ukulele tunings. This version is in G, which is the original key. I will also have a version in C coming out, which is easier for my female vocal chords and may be easier for those playing a GCEA tuning.

I recorded this a bit fast, feel free to slow down the playback speed when you’re learning.

Helplessness Blues – Ukulele Song Sheet and Play-along

This arrangement is in G, which worked better for baritone ukulele and for my female singing voice. I have song sheets for both GCEA and Baritone tunings on this page.

Play along with me here if you’d like –

This song has been speaking to me a lot lately. I think this project, this content I create, the things I share so more people can partake in music making – that may be the “great machinery serving something beyond me.” Maybe this work is my orchard.

Enjoy it, and happy New Year!

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” for Baritone Ukulele

I was like, “I’ll just make those two Christmas tutorials and call it good.” Right.

This song is challenging, not just because of the chords used, but the sheer number of chords that we don’t see terribly often in the simpler songs. Hopefully in the video it helps when I break it down, it definitely took a lot of time for me to learn this. Don’t give up!
